    Just thought I’d share this as it’s such a beautifully shot piece of film. The narration borders on the slightly pretentious side for me but meh…. Stunning nonetheless.

    Spectacular. Why do they chuck their paddles away? To avoid injury I suppose.

    Yeah when you hit the base of massive falls like that, there is a tendency for your paddles to be rammed into your face.
    Quite often they are bought alongside the boat but even then they can wrench your arms about, and so I guess it’s easier to just completely chuck them away and hand-roll back up.

    I can’t hand-roll, and have never done a fall so big so I wouldn’t know.. 😯
