A ride at Langsett and out on cut gate would be one obvious choice – don’t go on the ‘snow road’ bridleway from dunford though, it’s awful. Can ride on road to flouch roundabout then bridleway to Langsett Res.

Second option is head holmfirth way – there’s a good loop that goes up above digley reservoir and round and about holmfirth.

I’m not local but I’ve only ever ridden Cutgate when it’s been dry & dusty during “summer” months ..
At this time of year I’m told it doesn’t hold water too well ( to put it mildly)..it could be a bit of a slog ..

I can confirm cut gate can get a bit damp this time of year.

where abouts , i lived at the bottom of brook hill in carlecotes tons of riding to be had over the back of winscar down into hepworth via the woods and up onto hade edge, its a beaut of a climb

if your heading to langsett , down to the stanhope arms in the bottom of the valley, you will see it at the bottom of the damn wall on the oppo side of the road and you can head along the tpt about 1 mile on theres a bridge that will take you up across the fields to the flouch and through to slippery stones

im off this week before i head off to williams so could probably give you some routes or a quick pootle to sho you how to get to these spots i live about a half mile from langsett res

Agree the snow road is dreadful. Cutgate from that side could just be just up the top via North America and back down without heading into the slop. Then there are routes over towards Holmebridge.

Fox house tonight for food and beer 🙂 first ride today was a family ride which resulted in my xtr pedal falling to bits on the carpark bounce test. Looks like cut gate tomorrow on my Slate.
Enjoyed The Oil Can at Cardings yard for a fish finger buttie 🙂
