Are lock on grips okay with carbon bars, or do they damage them?

No issues, just don’t go psycho tight.

Don’t worry the bolts will round off before its too tight!

Avoid the grub-screw type that can damage bars, cinch-types like ODIs are fine as long as you don’t do them up too tight.

If you are worried, hope do a compression end plug which will prevent the carbon distorting.

Agree with the comment about the bolts rounding before any carbon-squishing issues arise. Don’t worry about it.

Thanks for the advice, I think they are grub screw ones. I’ll get some new ones.
