For normal XC riding + maybe a bit more?

(Let’s ignore the looks shall we?)

for £400 includign a headset and with bars and grips thrown in I can’t see why you wouldn’t (I just have 🙂 )- I think the ‘shiney’ paint job does have a slimming effect on it a bit.

Ride wise they are superb and comes in scary light (xt, pro3 wheels is coming in at about 24lbs I reckon)

They do look a bit odd but at 400 notes they are an absolute steal.

Need quite a long fork 140mm at least as the headtube is so short and has an integrated headset so shorter forks feel very low.

If you are near reading/Oxford you are welcome to have a shot on mine (16″ missus)

They are a brilliant ride, I couldn’t beleive the improvement over the 853 inbred I had before. Most components were swithced over so it was a true comparison. Would agree that they are better with a 140mm fork , i’ve recently fitted rev u-turns.

I think I might. Just need to scrape another £100-ish together in time!

    Folk say it’s a better ride….how?

Stiffer? Lighter? More comfortable? (And if anyone says “more planted”…. 😡 )

I’ve been eyeing one of these for a while.

    16″ for a just-under-5ft 9in bloke do you reckon?

Yep. I’m 5’8″ and an 16in Inbred is perfect for me.

Appalling choice of handlebars in that offer.

Anybody would think they needed to get shot of all those weird niche bars.

I’m rubbish at describing the feel of a bike, but I would say stiffer, without being harsh, particularly on rocky stuff it goes were you point it – less pinging about. Didn’t really notice the weight as much as I thought I would TBH, lost about 1.5lbs compared to the pevious 853 build

Mine is brilliant and it looks brilliant as well! Looks like they were only on sale for a few months at £500 so I’d be annoyed if I’d paid that price.

    What’s not to like.

I knew someone who bought a cannondale from Evans.

The price dropped by £1000 a week after he bought it.

Like most things, you take a risk if you buy it now.

Very true. But if you talk to them nicely they’ll swap them for something else, like a seatpost….. 🙂

Yes. I just ordered one 😀

It looks like they still are…. But if you read the ‘frame only’ page it seems the £500 one is painted and has posh decals on it, rather then the bare carbon of the £400 one. Personally, I prefer the bare carbon.

Wwaswas, he did say they had a backlog at the delivery company, but it would be packed today. I’m in no rush to be fair. 🙂

Is it just me that’s wondering how other companies can justify their carbon prices when O-O can knock ’em out for under £400?

Not really, theres probably quite a steep set of supply/demand curves for the bike industry. i.e. people will pay more for soething because you are chargeing more (thus artificialy making it niche). So you can sell a product at a high price and sell a few, or at rock bottom and sell loads and still come out in about the same position, take Stork and On-One, both small manufacturers, but hugely different price tags.

Yes I’d noticed the lack of dropouts in the pic, but thankfully my order confirmation email says

    “FSOOSWAP-A-GEAR-DS – 1 – On-One Swapout Replaceable Dropout / A / Geared / Drive Side
     FSOOSWAP-B-GEAR-DISC – 1 – On-One Swapout Replaceable Dropout / B / Geared / Disc Side”

Gotta say I love mine, fox 32 rl,XT brakes, crossrides with 2.4 big betty and racing ralph, on-one twelfty post, slx crank/xt mech and a set of big ass flat bars on a 70mm stem. Mega at climbing and descents so much more involving than my Zesty. Finish is crap on mine but that’s probs my fault as I pressured the hell out of of them to get me it quickly, they actually went to the paint shop to pick it up for me specially and I don’t think the lacquer had time to harden properly. Don’t care though, as many have said on here it ain’t much to look at but to ride………..:)
