I'd love to fit a big bad behind engine into my 406 estate, stiffen the suspension, get sporty seats and decent sound. Something to smoke chavs in their Civics/Preludes.

A taxi driver in your car could do that.

My mother's cousin has had a Ford Cortina Savage V6 for getting on for 40 yrs. Refurbed it a few years back - fantastic car for it's day and not as well known as the Lotus Cortina.

Even when I was a kid, I always lusted after a Shelby Cobra.
....still do.
As for more modern day cars, I'd have to plump for an Aston Martin. ( would still prefer the Shelby)

An original UR Quattro 20V. Quite a cheap car to buy but a pig to afford the running costs. Exhaust manifolds being the main culprit.
Really anything from the days of Group B Rallying.Posted 1 year ago # -
Either a Skoda Rapid coupe with a 993(porsche) lump, or a box arch MK11 escort with a cossie lump & transit diff (top speed 100mph).
I would love to give a GT2 (like I have been ragging today
) a run for its money in a 'shed'!

I'm tempted but every time I get the motivation and money together it throws a wobler and eats it all up.
Its going to be replaced by something faster, shinier and all together newer, but not decided exactly what yet.

i always wanted to get a robin reliant van (ala Del boy) and shoe horn a BFO V8 in the back. would leave the exterior all shabby and unassuming tho. Assuming it would be possible, it would generate a few surprised faces as you left them at the lights

@tazzymtb: That unicat looks good. I saw a few of these in Mayrhofen earlier this year. One with a tail lift for an MX bike and a pair of Nicolais.
My current list contains:
Fiat 695 Essesse
Alfa Brera S
Audi TT-engined Elise
Land Rover 101 Vampire camperPosted 1 year ago # -

A Caterham 7 type vehicle, along with the time, money & know-how to build it myself.
I like the idea of the ones with motorbike engines - revtastic.

Stripped out 7-alike kit car with an all steel bottom end Toyota 4-AGE engine tuned to run up to 10krpm plus, with a centrifugal supercharger helping it push out north of 300bhp, 6 speed close ratio sequential box, road legal cut slicks, big brakes etc... Should waste just about anything else out there on the twisties!
Ultima GTR with an exotic engine, or at least not a small block Chevvy. Something like a BMW M5 V10, Audi/Lamborghini V10, or perhaps the 6.2 litre AMG Merc V8 from the SL63 but with added forced induction... NICE!
205gti with an Mi16 engine on throttle bodies, full roll cage, and track prepped.
Mk1 Golf with a 20V 1.8T engine (I know it's been done loads but I still want one!)
Supercharged BMW E39 M5, just cos the E39 was more of an allrounder than the E60 in my opinion, and the V8 is probably an easier engine to work with and get more out of. That and the E39 M5 was pretty understated and looked like most other 5 series, but with 400bhp it was pretty wild (yeah, I got to drive a couple of them, good fun too), but with 700bhp from a supercharged motor it would be crazy!
Lightweight mid engined kit car for use with a bike engine, but instead of some 1000cc inline 4, the 1700cc V4 out of the current Yamaha VMAX, tuned up a little bit! Should make it shift somewhat...
And loads of others, but my imagination is going to sleep right now...

You'll be lucky, most have ended up the way of the crusher, or fallen into the hands of Chavs who've then crashed them. Mainly cos they became so cheap! Also lots of people buy them just for the 4-AGE engine to put in a kit car...

coffeking - Sorry to say it was my fault. i let the oil run low and then went round a 90 degree bend quite fast at 8,500rpm. Oil starvation and a few tears.
Trailered home to prevent further damage

A 6R4; it's just so wrong it's right.
I'll be building a 7 when I get a new garage sorted, or another elise with a K20. I need to scratch the 7 itch though.

American muscle cars are really crap tho whippersnapper. Just crap. No redeeming features.
I spent a lot of time in Lada Rivas and Nivas growing up. If you're looking for an absence of unredeeming features, look no further.Posted 1 year ago # -

The guy that did my Dad's V8 P100 pick up did a few V8 Morris Minors - one was an F1 pace car! Supercharged to silly power.
He also did a couple of 911 turbo split screen veedub vans and even put a car into production (called the Cirrus Gold) - little sports car with a V8 - had he marketed it better, I reckon it would have done pretty well.
He has a website here with a few mad projects!

He even built a carbon MTB.

I'm softening up the wife by dropping hints that there is still a 'project car' in me cause I miss the old off roaders. I'm a bit of a petrol head and spent hours rebuilding a number of Rover V8's engines and the off roaders they were in:

Dunno what the next project will be though. My itch goes 2 ways. A 2 seater of some form, A TVR Cerbera, Lotus Elise or the 'i've always wanted' 8-series beemer

On the other hand, I like the butchness of land rovers and i've never scratched the itch of always always wanting a 110.
Whatever it'll be, it'll need the approval of the missus though.
