  • Car insurance. Companies that offer 180 day European cover?

As title really. My Dad’s looking to take his car abroad for up to six months. He’s currently with Aviva but they only offer 90 day cover. Tried LV but the quote was pretty high. Do Saga allow a younger driver to be a named driver considering they’re an over 50’s insurer?

    Thanks

1st stop would be to call current insurer and ask on the phone. Your probably onto specialists after that, maybe try an expat forum. Some of those are probably doing it.

does the renewal occur mid 6 month? so 3months on one years policy the other on renewal/new provider?

Is your Dad going to be with the car?

Most insurers say you have to be resident in the UK at least 9 months out of the year, hence 3 months frequently being the max foriegn use.

I believe its as much to do with teritorial limits for selling insurance as it is the users travel arrangments.

Chaucer Insurance used to provide it.

He could take a punt and continue to drive after the 90 day period. Will be afforded Third Party cover only but will still be insured.
