Hoover Dam is a must and very handy. Do the tour inside, it’s orsum.
Grand Canyon if you have the time but it is quite far.

We did a 1-way rental from LV to Seattle a couple of years ago and used National/Alamo. Everything included – no surprise extras, but you will always get a bit of a salespitch to upgrade your car.

Valley of Fire SP do-able within a day.

How long you want to drive for? Grand Canyon NP, Zion NP, Antelope Canyon, Bryce Canyon all close in US terms – only a day’s drive.

I have no unexpected surprises with Avis when I was there last year. As has been said, the GC is a decent drive away, and a rather boring one for a lot of it, but is certainly worth the trip if you have the time.

Well, there’s always the Crazy Horse club–quite entertaining (err, so I have been told)

I’ve got the GC planned and was thinking of the dam.

Death valley is doable in a day but not much to see apart from the sunrise

Best thing to do is leave. Vegas is engineered to part you from money.

You can’t walk through a door without someone holding their hand out. I stopped doing it after a couple of days, I was broke at the time and they were earning a fortune just to stand there.

Zion National Park. Maybe do a big loop leaving Zion east and going to Monument Valley before returning via the Grand Canyon/Hoover Dam. 650 miles so over 2 or 3 days obviously.

Williams on old Route 66 is a nice town for an overnight.

    Zion National Park

Beautiful place and only about 2 1/2 hours from Vegas

Bryce Canyon National Park is also stunning and about 3 1/2 hours

    Pretty much.
I’ve booked via Avis. Opted for the “bypass the desk” and go straight to the car.

‘Only’ 500 miles to Mesa Verde…worth a peek if you go that way.

If you are at the S. Rim of the Grand Canyon, it’s only about another 220 miles to Mesa Verde and pretty spectacular scenery along the way.

Red Rocks park is about 45mins to an hour away.
Loads of climbing there (which is why we went) but I’d say it was worth a bit of time for sightseeing if you’re looking for something to do.

Have to say we didn’t find that people were “holding their hands out” all the time. I found it quite an enjoyable place to be, in a “this place is completely nuts and over the top” kinda way. But then we spent most of our time there climbing….

We rented a car from Avis – no drama, no hidden extras.

    Enjoy.
