    Hi,

Looks like I might be able to ride Capital Trail with friend of mine at the beginning of August. Found bucketloads for on-line, GPS and whatever else tracks. However electronic version is only as good as the device you are using. Therefore paper maps back-up might be good option.

However it is looking like 8 or 9 individual maps to cover it?

    Am I right?

    Cheers!

I’ve done it a few times. One could easily manage with a simple follow-a-line GPS. It isn’t a route I’d want to navigate with maps – you’d be forever stopping to consult them as the route is a collection of routes linked in sometime not obvious ways

Sign up for the OS maps 7 day trial and print your own that just covers the route you need. If you’re feeling really fancy you can even get some weatherproof inkjet paper to print them on.

Aiming to do it in the next week or so. Will print a 1:50,000 OS of the route. Drop me a mail if you want a PDF copy 🙂

Paper copy as a back-up, in case of GPS unit failure.

Cheers Andy, will definitely call in.
