Is the clearance in the cage the same or enough?
Sram X5 if that makes any difference.
    Cheers.

    Anyone?
Trying to sort a mates bike out.
First time I’ve worked on a bike with Sram gears and the clamp bolts seem as soft as cheese on the X5.

It will be marginal and prob require constant trimming of the front mech to avoid chain rub at extremes of the block, given you need to do this with a narrower 10spd chain anyway.

If you’ve just rounded a bolt off can’t you just replace that? (I don’t know Sram mechs).

9-speed chains are up to 6.8 mm wide, 10-speed drivetrains are 5.9-6.2 mm wide and Campagnolo 11-speed is a mere 5.5 mm wide.

According to Google, not sure it would notice @ front mech

In a nutshell….yes, I am running a Shimano 10 speed front mech on my 9spd geared bike without any problems at all, shifting is nice and smooth and easy to set up.
