Seeing as an xtr double front mech does not exist for 9 speed can you use a 10 or is it just a wee bit too narrow and will be a pain in the butt.
    Cheers all.

I’ve got a 10 speed double (not XTR) on my otherwise 9 speed hack bike.

    Works fine.

Now i come to think about it a bit more, I’ve also got a 10 speed XT on my otherwise 9 speed MTB race bike.

And a 10 speed road mech on my wifes 9 speed road bike.

    It’ll be fine.

(Doubles are far far easier to fettle than triples anyway, loosing that middle position is a massive benefit)
