My trusty old Cake is starting to show signs of its age – not least in the rear shock, which no longer seems to be doing the 'platform pedal' thing – I can see it moving if I look down as I pedal along even on smooth tarmac. I assume it's "bobbing" as I ride.

The shock is the original Manitou Swinger SPV air can. Can a 5 year old shock still be serviced & brought back to life? Or do I need a new shock? Or worse, a new bike?

New shock not a problem, it needs to be a 190x50mm size. Fox RP23 or RS Monarch 4.2 works great.
