The waterproofing seam sealing tape on my 5 year old paclite smock has started to come undone in places. I’m not too upset as the jacket has done really well and been worn loads but I would like to continue to use it.

Does anyone know whether re-sticking the seams is a sensible plan and if so what the best type of glue is?

I ironed mine back on. It is the sort of stretchy rubbery clear stuff that had the imprint of the seams/ststching still in it when it came off so I guessed it was melted on there in the first place. (i don’t think all seams are like that though), did it on a low heat veeeeerrrryyy sloooooowwwly through a teatowel and it sort of melted itself back on. It did take ages, mind.

Ooh, hadn’t thought of that. I’m pretty certain that they are applied with heat so ironing probably is a good plan.

I tried McNett SilNet (silicon seam sealant) once out of curiosity on an old jacket… it doesn’t work.

But the same people suggest SeamGrip for reattaching seam tape:
