Just gone 10spd on my bike. Got new rear mech, chain, cassette and shifters. Can I get away with using my old 9spd front mech??

    Cheers

My initial hunch is no as I think the cable pull ratio is different but don’t know for sure.

I do, use a 3 speed shifter and mech on a 10 speed double ring, doesn’t quite set up perfectly as I couldn’t be bothered to mess about with the limit screws, but the 3 positions easily cover all 20 gears.

Mech only moves as much as the shifter pulls so if you fiddle about a bit with it you should be able to make a 3 speed mech work with a 2 speed shifter to do what you want

Endurogangster, that’s the set up I’m going for. Will try it out tonight. Cheers guys
