Or…what 9spd rear mech (short cage) 34T cassette best mimics the clutch?

You can use a 10sp shimano mech with 9 speed SRAM shifters apparently. The trick is to use a 6mm packer to lift the cable off the mech. So the cable bolt clamps the cable against the packer/ washer, which sits between the cable and mech. There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about it. Haven’t tried it yet, but intend to

Currently using a SRAM Attack shifter. I say ‘currently’- its probably been on my bikes 5yrs+.

Would that be ok? I ‘think’ early Sram were 1:1?

Im in the Peaks both days next weekend 😀

Question/thinking- its a 1 ring set up, surely running a SHORT cage normal mech that can reach 34 tooth rear will massively help as it’ll lessen chain slap/growth?

yep, also add an extra twist of the mech (undo stop and twist, put stop back) to make the spring stronger
