Possibly a silly question… Got a spare Shimano R500 rear wheel and wondered if I could repurpose it for use on the Pompino. It has plenty of spacing bolts on it, so could I remove some to make it 120mm???

I’m going to take that as a no then.

probably. Try it, it’ll either work or it won’t.

According to the techdocs, you’ve got 6.8mm worth of spacers on the non-drive side that you can remove, not quite the 10mm that you’re looking for, but knowing what bike manufacturers tolerances are like, it’s quite possible it’ll drop in perfectly.

Thanks coatesy, I’ll have a play and report back…

I’d probably just remove the spacers for now and try it. If it fits ok, then strip it, swap axles and re-dish, if it doesn’t then you’ve only lost a few minutes removing spacers.
