Image I took today through the gates of a closed down "Carbon Black" factory in Bristol.

Looks link it has been just uncovered. Is it an early Gollywog? Or a representation of a carbon black worker ?

I doubt it – those brown bricks look classic 1970/80s.

It's definitely a Gollywog though. A happy cheerful Gollywog, smiling and obviously saluting the boss-man.
I would say that it's a good example of a late post-PC Gollywog.

The factory is Savalco (Colombian Chemicals)at Avonmouth.

I seem to have a memory of a very similar figure from an early disney cartoon. Can't find owt with a quick google tho
