  • Can anyone recommend a good Grappa?

I was working over in Italy last week, had some beautiful Grappa, I always considered it a harsh tasteless drink and didn’t realise you could get really good stuff. It was like a good single malt, loads of smells and layered flavours.

Can anyone recommend a good one easily available in the UK?

I used to live 50 yards from a Grappa bar in Bath. I tried 50 odd and I can safely say, none were good!

Never had a bad Grappa, but I avoid it now – older/wiser 🙂

Tignanello (I think) is good. very good. and spendy 🙁

currently got some Amarone grappa, quite nice. usually a drop in bottom of espresso dregs.

Likewise was in Italy last year, stayed at farmhouse – bought some of their aged grappa – light gold colour, really very nice and not at aloe expensive.

We stayed in bassano del grappa (its spritual home) a couple of years ago. Beautiful town. The grappa we tasted at the local winery who provided our tour was awesome!

Good grappa are you joking!! The stuff is just bottled rocket fuel. Brings back some nasty drunken memories does grappa.

    This one looks cheap:

Possibly not an authentic brand, but tastes the same…

I used to be of the opinion that grappa and raki was just rocket fuel, probably from some Greek holidays in my teens and early twenties.

However, like I said, I had some really good stuff in Italy, totally different from what I have had before.

The difference was like comparing a good single malt and Bells.
