    Hi All

Looking for Campsite nirvana whereby some of us can get decent lift assisted riding in and the rest of the family can chill by the pool or go shop

We’ll be in a motorhome so ideally somewhere that we can walk into town ( the bars!) and pedal to the lifts.

We’ve done the Morzine/Les Gets area and love it but hoping for some other recommendations to try this summer

    Thanks All

Les Arcs area probably, loads of other stuff to do for the family up there.

Chattel does that but it’s not so far from morzine. As the crow flys anyway, it’s a surprisingly long drive!

We stayed at l’oustalet which is through town towards pre du joux (and the lifts) I did a lot of the natural riding, sometimes with a lift assist.

You can get a multi pass while there which means free lift access (sans bike) and although there’s an indoor pool at the site you can use the lovely new one in the village for free. It’s a short walk up to the centre but there’s plenty of free parking if you have little people who will prefer to avoid the walk.

Also liked chapel d’abundance which has a pub micro brewery. Good beer and burger deals!

There’s also cabins and a chalet on the campsite too if you don’t want to take camping set up. We stayed in the chalet as it was an extended-family holiday and all (except us) flew.

Edit. Read the motor home but now!

You could try either in Samoens or look around Lake Annecy / La Clusaz / Semnoz (perhaps better for the family, not so good for riding accessability). For a serious mountain playground there is Chamonix although the camper parking I’ve seen is on the main road and looks a bit rubbish

yea thanks, we went Chamonix a couple of years back and stayed on a site up by the new hospital, was easy to walk into town but wasn’t cheap.

Ideally looking for a site with good access to a town and other activities for non-bikers. The reviews Ive read of the site in Chatel paint a bleak picture of the staff and rules and regulations. We will be a party of 2 or 3 families so might be a problem for them if we were to make just a little bit of noise after 10oclock

We stayed in Le Grand Bournand a few years back in the caravan. It has an uplift but the trails are tame compared to Morzine or Les Gets. Grand Bournand is fairly small but handy for bigger towns like Annecy. Plenty of cols for road riding though. Some local natural trails as well. There is a pool at the Caravan Club site (L’escale) but a better one is just down the road. Morzine or Les Gets is doable for a day trip.

That’s a very nice campsite. We’ve been there when it was quiet and also when it was packed. Best to book ahead on weekends. The nearby river drowns out background noise like traffic and stuff. It’s by far the best of the two campsites in comfortable walking distance from town and close to the out of town supermarket and pizza shop to avoid sky high Cham pricing.

    I’d recommend it. Link

What about Austria? The campsites are top notch.I can recommend here which has absolutely everything onsite and the Zillertal area has started to get in on the extreme MTB act with a number of DH/freeride runs connected to lifts.Thisarea is a five minute ride from the campsite for example.

Have stayed here before in Bourg St Maurice

    https://www.camping-indigo.com/en/indigo-bourg-saint-maurice

Used to be called La Versoyen.

Looks like its been taken over by a bigger company. So be worth checking out other reviews in case its changed character.

But a friend stayed there last year and was happy with it.

    Nice relaxed family friendly campsite.

5 min ride by the river to the funicular railway that takes you up to Les Arcs.

Swimming pool, tennis courts etc close by for the family.

Two supermarkets across the road, so no need to drive if you’ve parked up your motorhome for the week.

Pleasant walk into town through a forest by the river.

You can also head up to La Rosiere for riding.
