Stayed at Ferme Noeme, just outside Bourg D’Oisans, ok, bit pricey. Also stayed at the smaller campsite at Venosc, better ambiance and views.
Lots of brake bumps on the smaller side of Deuxs Alpes runs. Spoiled those routes. The THUIT and LA FEE runs were immense though, on the other alp. Long technical scenic routes.
Alp D’Huez although very good – hardly any brake bumps – has shorter routes.
We ended up going to –
Vars – very quiet, dry, Petite Vallon red – Enduro – 6-12inch wide natural singletrack for over an hour, one of the best routes Ii have evr done outsode the Ax LEs Thermes routes.
Les Orres – reliably good, well maintained and quiet
Deuxs Alpes – nice long routes but brake bumps spoiled some blue/green routes.
Alp D’Huez – very good, smooth trails, lovely blue descent down to Huez.
Val D’Isere/Tignes – cold and wet so no riding, free uplifts.
We were also multi pitch climbing, via-ferrata and snowboarding (les duexs alpes 3300m on the glacier) as we travelled about.
If driving down like we did, stop in Belgium 1.3E a ltr and fill right up in Luxembourg 1.01E a ltr. That’s for diesel.
