My camcorder has suddenly stopped downloading.

usually connect it to the laptop with a firewire cable and turn on the camcorder. Windows video importer (WVI) then opens and downloads the footage.

At the moment WVI is shown to be running once the camcorder is connected and turned on (it is active in task manager, but nothing on the laptop screen). when I try to connect the camcorder again an error message pops up saying “WVI is already open and cannot be opened again”

I try to end task in task manager but it will not close WVI

It’s on vista media centre edition

Any ideas?
