  • Calling stats whizzes – significantly different linear fits?

I have two sets of data, each fitted with a straight line via linear regression.

The slopes of the two fits are different, but how do I test to see if they are significantly different?

Could you not trying fitting the regression line to the differences between the two data sets (difference in the the y values) assuming the x values correspond? If this line has a Beta value that is statistically different from ZERO then the two lines were different – if not then the lines are parallel and the slope is the same?

    Intuitively makes sense?
