Just about to build up the RL 853 with an XT HTII chainset & BB, how many spacers have you guys fitted? And presumably all on the drive side?

Sorry for the newbie question, not fitted a HTII before.

    Cheers Stuart

2 drive side, 1 non drive side (same chainset)

Another newbie Q, what’s the point of spacing?

Gives you the correct chainline, and spaces the BB cups properly.
The BB cups need to be spaced 75.5mm apart so the axle fits in there correctly, which is achieved through the use of 2.5mm spacers. Rock lobster has a 68mm BB shell width so needs 3 spacers (68+(3*2.5)=75.5.

Thanks for the info Oggles, makes a bit more sense now.
