My silva x trail headtorch puts out around 150 lumens allegedly, and its great and very bright for trail running with but a little lacking on the bike. Silva have released its successor, which looks to all intents and purposed identical, but with a 100 lumen boost thanks to upgraded but un-named LED’s

Would anyone be able to upgrade my head torch, and what do you think the cost might be?

This may be an incredibly stupid question, but if you don’t ask…

You can buy LED’s, usually mounted on a star base, which you could possibly solder on in place of the original, if it’s star-mounted, you’d need to open it up to see how the emitter is fitted. DX.com do a huge range, but you might run into problems with appropriate drivers, which would possibly be needed for a more powerful emitter.
Candlepower forums might be of help if you go over there and ask a few questions.
By the time you’ve finished fannying around, you might just be better off buying the new one and keeping the old one in the car for emergencies.

Thanks CountZero, I reckon you might have a very good point there!
