I’ve just received a brand new pair of 2011 Fox 36 RLC 160mm.

I’ve discovered there is a knocking noise when compressing the fork at rest.
The fork makes a distinctive slight ‘knock’ at about 50mm of travel and you can just feel it through the bars.
It sounds like some sort of contact inside of the fork. If you compress the fork slowly it cannot be heard – but the faster you compress the louder it gets.

You cannot feel it while riding.

Anyone else experienced this?

is it air or coil?

if coil there is a plastic sleeve on the spring to stop the knocking sound of spring hitting the inside of the stanchion, this can wind itself down, just remove the spring and wind back to place.

If air I have the 180 float RC2 and it does the same sound and its been tested pretty heavily in alpine conditions without worry, so I wont worry about it, you have a warranty if something goes wrong, and Mojo are pretty good.

The RLC cartridge in the 36 is specific to the 160mm floats (air). The 160 coil is only available in the RC2 version, while the 180mm forks, in air and coil, are RC2.
