see if you can get the shop to do a build of a five and fork with uber cheap/2nd hand bits, so technically they invoice you for a whole bike.

Or what if you bring in donor kit for them to build, would that count as you are leaving the shop with a whole bike?

plenty that are worth a grand, not many that cost that. I’d second turner guy, get a decent spec donor bike, probably something with a better name than boardman just to increase resale value (some people are snobs!)
