Planning some activities this year to raise cash for charidee and want to include a 2 or 3 day ride in there as well as the non mtb stuff. So my question what’s the best off road route that will get me across coast to coast in 3 days? Failing that I’ll have a look for something else I can fit in a long weekend (SDW type stuff probably). I should add, I am not a whippet 🙂

C2C is the route from Whitehaven to Sunderland, is that what you mean?
Easily doable for an average cyclist in 3 days, I think it works out at about 60 miles per day. You can start at Workington (if you have an aversion to jameaters) and finish at Newcastle if it suits. Finishing at Newcastle is ideal for the Reivers back.

I did Whitby to Walney last year in 3 days. We started in Whitby and came back to Walney which is apparently the wrong way to do it. It was an excellent experience despite gale force winds and biblical rain. Raised £2500 for the local hospice.

The route was loosely based on Sustrans route 70.

    Go for it.
