"This price includes shipping and brokerage
Any duties or taxes charged by your country is your responsibility"

this suggests to me that I shouldn't have to pay Fedex's handling charge – which they've "always" (x2) billed for in the past

    anyone know ?

VAT is 17.5% (rising to 20% in 2011) and import duty is around 4.5-5%, so that's 22.5% in total. You may get hit with a courier handling charge, so it's best to factor this in.

I tend to add on about 24%, which is slightly over the odds…but I'm happier to overestimate the charges than underestimate.

Don't forget to include the shipping and insurance (if applicable) when making your calculations.

Import duty is 4.5 % on parts
    14.5 % on complete bikes
+ vat and fedex handling charge … used jenson earlier in the year and they were superb
