If i buy a bike from the states, what exactly do I pay here? VAT @20%, but how much is import tax?

Just trying to work out cost for bringing in £1000 bike?

You’re normally looking at around a 1/3rd extra but it’s a bit hit and miss at times

The import duty on complete bikes is at a substantially higher rate than separate parts [or it used to be] and you get a duty free allowance of £135 – so much cheaper if you can split it up

I think it used to be 4% duty on parts, it’s on the Revenue and Customs website somewere.

Not going matter any more as dealers says he can’t ship complete bike outside states, grrrrh
