If I buy from a european shop who normally gives the best exchange rate, my bank (ie pay by credit card) or paypal, I'd guess bank or will paypal just debit my bank account in euros?

Pay by credit card if its over £100 so you are protected under section 75. the rates are generally better than high street exchange rates.

Yeah I've bought from abroad before and banks normally give better exchange than thomas cook etc but I got a paypal account now, was going to use that then I figured they may well use their own exchange rate and do you over on it.
