Following on from the Ipad thread, will a US I-phone work with a UK SIM?

I believe the gsm ones ie those sold on the AT&T network will the ones for verizon CDMA ones won’t. Not sure how it works if you go to an apple store I assume they ask you.

Well my uk iPhone works alright in the states.

Although I can see why all the reception issues get such press, AT&T is a truly shocking network. Awful call quality, dropped calls, fluctuating signal.

Ok, so possibly an AT&T phone might be the way to go. I’ve found this website Here but I’m uncertain whether this is genuine or not. Any ideas?

It’ll probably be locked to the supplying network – you’ll need to get it unlocked to work with a UK SIM.

As beej ^^^. I asked the same question in the NY Apple store and was told it would work once unlocked but would void warranty. Something was also said about the network contract to the US supplier, to which I wasn’t really listening as switched off at the “void warranty” bit
