I’m having to travel by train to pick up the vehicle, so if I take an insurance certificate, and get the V5 doc from the current owner, and present it at the nearest post office, would that be enough?.

    Cheers.

I think provided it has a current MOT you can.

It’s all online now. you just need the V5C, it to have an MOT and you to have insurance.

[edit] I did my most recent purchase the morning I was going to pick it up – got the ref off the seller in advance.

you have to get your own tax now in any event so SORN by current owner should make no difference.

Easiest way is go on the website, enter the number off the new keeper supplement and pay with card, covered immediately.

Make sure you do it as New Keeper with that number, not the number off the front of the v5
