I have one of these sat on the inside window at the back of the house. Which is nice, but as I live in Ireland it must be on it’s holidays… right?

Identified from collins butterflies and moths of britain and europe: say’s it’s absent from great Britain.

Anyone I should mention this to?

You got me very exited till i saw the image.

Sadly it’s not a Lopinga, it’s a Parage Aegeria. Speckled wood

 Just had another look and you’re right… sorry, in our excitement (2&5 year olds egging me on) and the odd way the pictures are listed we got mixed up.

I’ll go hide in a corner.

    Easy mistake in excitement.
Something I have to be careful of in a mo.
I’m popping out to survey a reserve for butterfly species and when something is in flight, its not easy to ID especially when there are several day time flying moths on the reserve that look so similar in flight.
Thanks for the post though, you never know for sure what rarity you’ve just seen…
