Some years ago the battery in our alarm key panel ran out, and it seems to have lost its link with the main unit. Given that there’s a little nervousness surrounding a spate of burglaries in the area, I thought I might try and get it working again before we go away for Christmas.

It looks like this with the cover off:

Any clues as to what make/model it is so I can download some instructions?

There isn’t a brand name and model on the cover, hence the problem. Otherwise I’d have googled it! The entire thing is devoid of any evidence as to manufacturer or provenance. Except that the sticker inside the lid with wiring instructions on it is in English and French.

What comes up if you scan the QR code and what is the text beside it? A better resolution/bigger photo would help.

Take the PCB out and see if there’s anything on the other side too.

Try posting the photo on diynot forum, I’ve had help on there with alarms before.

Cut the blue wire.. maybe switch to the red at the last minute.
Changing your mind at the last minute is key though.

What do you mean by “it seems to have it’s link”?

I assume he means the connection between the panel and the keypad

What comes up if you scan the QR code

I’d guess that’s for an individual component.

The one on gazes ebay link is a CMI8UK – ADT. (and it’s an ADT alarm)
The text on that QR code on molgrips’s seems to read PCT8UK – SJS. Could SJS be a brand?

Two things you can do with this

1, take a hammer and smash it off the wall

2, get ADT in to get it up and running as these panels only work correctly if it’s hooked up to the telephone line and connected to ADT’s alarm receiving centre.

I’d go with getting the hammer out.

Hmm good work folks 🙂 front panel is almost identical.

SJS is St John Security, the original operators. So looks like these are special orders for the the supplier.. hmm.
