Would you go 2 cross or 3 cross? I’ve had problems with 3 cross on a 26 inch wheel before due to the larger than normal flanges. Does the same apply to a 29er? 🙂

    I’d go 3x

Last time I went 3x the angle at the nipples was too great and the spokes started snapping, I’m worried about that happening again! 🙂

You may find some good info here,as there are similar issues with a gear hub being larger diameter.

I’ve got both of the above on H-plus Son Archetype 700c/29er rims. I went 3x due to the weight of the hubs and have completed almost 15k km on mine without any problems at all.
