    Hi,

I’ve decided to build an enduro bike after a couple of years off the trails. I’ve just started and pretty much have a frame wrapped up, (2009 Rockymountain Slayer).

I’m trying to do it on a budget and what i’m wondering is what i shouldn’t be frugle on in terms of components and what, if anything, should i get brand new?.

I’d appreciate any advice or comments!

    Thanks

Depends how much you want to impress people.

If you do then its gonna be expensive for not that much gain IMO

If not then it should be fairly easy.

    Forks – rockshox revs/sektors
Brakes- new deore can’t be beaten for price unless you find some cheap hopes 2nd hand
Wheels – 2nd hand pro2 hubs on mavics should be sufficient(depends on if you go 20mm front or qr)
Drivetrain- shimano or SRAM. Either or really. The more you spend the lighter stuff gets. Deore or x5 is sufficient and lasts.

If it were me, I’d look for complete builds on the classifieds or eBay that have the spec you’re looking for and swap the stuff across. They often end up being cheaper than buying seperate…..especially if they lack the boutique parts that most people want
