There cannot be anyone more overlooked than the great Richard Thompson.

    I love BSP

    And brakes. But mainly BSP

They’ve played some of the most random gigs. I had the pleasure of watching them in church in devils costumes. You had to nip out to the porch to drink though.

Is this the brass tour? I don’t get to go.

Better hope that there isn’t a power cut just before they start playing, in a building where all the lights stay on…….

Very good aP – may happen as well, as it’s a new venue.
sea of Brass, yep – should be different. No drinking obstacles though I don’t think.
Couple of the band are locals I think.

Richard Thompson overlooked…? He must be easily one of the best known English musicians of the last 40 years!

Saw them once at The Roundhouse in Camden – they had a small tree on stage which they waved about randomly for some reason… either way they seemed to have got a lot of deserved praise when they first started 10 years ago and have since faded into the background a bit which is a shame cos they’re very good

    Yep they are rather brilliant.

Wow, what a fantastic crescendo of orchestrated noise that was.
The brass band worked really well and Waving Flags was neck-nape-tingling.
Never seen so many folk wearing North Face, Patagonia, HH etc gear at a concert – Kendal for you I guess.

My mate Mark is the percussionist with Foden’s Brass Band……I think that it was them that were playing with BSP. Looked like a cool gig to play.

It was Foden’s, and they were great – fair bit of sitting around and counting for them I reckon.

Great venue and cracking gig. The sound was well sorted too – brass band on one side of the stage and rock band on the other must have made the mixing interesting

More than that surely? I seem to remember seeing them at The Zodiac in Oxford in about 2001, they were the support band for King Adora. What became of KA? They were excellent live

Saw them at Leeds last year when Eminem was headlining main stage. Very good but not as good as savages who were on before them. Until the lead singer of Savages came out and did a song with them that is. I remember a huge brown bear and a polar bear having a fight at the front of the stage at one point. Had never heard of them previously but would go see them again.

Got into BSP after seeing Brakes support Editors in Brum many years ago.
    Brakes played a track called “, , , , .” 🙂

Favourite BSP track is probably “Canvey Island”.

I was at Kendal too, awesome gig. Made me forget about the pain in my knee from crocking it climbing Helvellyn earlier in the day.

Now looking forward to the Kristmas Krankenhaus and the rescheduled Barbican date in January…yep I’m a little bit addicted to this band.

BSP are fab. Do they have a new album coming out any time soon???

One of the times I saw them I wore the appropriate green/camo canvas jacket and taped a lot of foliage to myself. Only problem was I couldn’t actually put my arms down once inside the venue…

*nod* to AndrewH, this was also at the Zodiac, but probably in about 2004 or 5.

I love them to peeeeces, quite a few cycling references peppered thru their discog too too ;-). most underappreciated and one of the best British bands ever, loads of little nods, winks and flat out tributes to everything ranging from Krautrock to Oi! Punk, from GSYBE to Julian Cope yet they are stunningly inventive and original in so many ways.

Missed their live performance soundtrack to ‘Man Of Arran’ screening at Eastnor nearby. Have been gutted since.

Apologies to Insect Life, Larsen B, A Trip Out, Lights Out For darker Skies, Machineries of Joy all stand out for me. One more time why not :

BSP are great, my band (Brighton & Hove City Brass) have supported them a few times in Brighton including playing Waving Flags with them on stage. Will be a support act again at their Kristmas Krankenhaus @ the Haunt in december 😀
