I just joined, and I feel so ‘pro’.

Watch out… I’m going to be outrageously pretentious on the roads/hills now.

I joined the other day – free bronze membership when I joined the local club. Not bad for £11!

is there a stigma around members that I didn’t know about?

I joined for the insurance, found it to be good value especially if you spend a bit of money in halfords or chain reaction now and then, the membership could almost pay for itself with the savings, but I haven’t found it changed my riding habits

You’ve joined the day before they’ll vote against the changes required by Sport England at the EGM today and hence lose £46m funding a year.

There are good reasons why some of the membership are voting against the changes. The proposals strengthen the boards ability to make decisions with no oversight from the regions. BC are found desperately wanting when it comes to anything that doesn’t ride on asphalt. They have some great members of staff working for us but with little support from higher up.
