What a shame, but a good innings none the less.

    Isn’t Johnny Ball still going?

    Oh bloody hell.

    Isn’t Johnny Ball still going?

Oh god, don’t tempt fate. He was a childhood hero of mine.

It’s a bit of a curse really, isn’t it. All the people we grew up loving, actors, rock stars, TV presenters, they’re all a generation older than us. So we get to watch them all check out one by one.

Isn’t it funny what Google throws up when you start to reminisce

I loved Brian. His songs in trumpchigleygreen were sublime.

    Fresh fish! fine fresh fish!
    Herring, plaice, mackerel turbot,
    Whiting, cod, halibut, dab,
    Prawn, crabs, crayfish and lobster,
In green parsley and set upon a slab.
    Fresh fish, fine fresh fish.
    Fishing song:
    Sitting by a stream,
    Fishing.
    By a Summer stream,
    Fishing.
    In still deep waters,
    Where lazy fish gleam.
    Fishing in the sun.

    RIP fella.

We all loved Brian Cant, very sad news but what joy to give to the world

Yes Johnny Ball is still about, they should dig out think of a number, it would still be ace. Floella Benjamin did a cbeebies bedtime story and she has not changed one bit: she’s now a life peer for libdems in the HoL, baroness

    Aw man.

Play Away was absolute class, Jonathan Cohen grinning away, they were like the Bonzos for little kids.

    He was brilliant, wasn’t he?

Ah, dear me. He’s just gone through the heaven-shaped window. Great man.

    I remember him reading this:
Pimpernel Petroleum is a bold bad bus
Who doesnt care for travelling from Glasgow to Luss
Pop goes her engine crunch go her gears
Her passengers are sitting with their fingers in their ears
Pimpernel Petroleum loves to make a fuss
Because Pimpernel Petroleum is a bold bad bus.

Her driver Percy Poddle is a kind wee man
Who talks to her politely as often as he can
He’s careful with her steering wheel and gentle with her brake
And whispers to her Pimpernel be good for goodness sake
But Pimpernel Petroleum is a bold bad bus
Who doesnt care for travelling from Glasgow to Luss
Pop goes her engine crunch go her gears
Her passengers are sitting with their fingers in their ears
Pimpernel Petroleum loves to make a fuss
Because Pimpernel Petroleum is a bold bad bus.

Pimpernel’s conductress, Miss Fanny Freda Frisk
Is exceedingly efficient but very bright and brisk
She said we’ve had enough of this sentimental stuff
What Pimpernel is needing is a driver who is rough
But driver Percy Poddle is a kind wee man
Who talks to her politely as often as he can
He’s careful with her steering wheel and gentle with her brake
And whispers to her Pimpernel be good for goodness sake
But Pimpernel Petroleum is a bold bad bus
Who doesnt care for travelling from Glasgow to Luss
Pop goes her engine crunch go her gears
Her passengers are sitting with their fingers in their ears
Pimpernel Petroleum loves to make a fuss
Because Pimpernel Petroleum is a bold bad bus.

One morning at the corner Pimpernel got stuck
Perhaps it was on purpose perhaps it was bad luck
Sat across the roadway wheels upon the grass
Lots of cars were coming but not a thing could pass
Pimpernel’s conductress, Miss Fanny Freda Frisk
Is exceedingly efficient but very bright and brisk
She said we’ve had enough of this sentimental stuff
What Pimpernel is needing is a driver who is rough
But driver Percy Poddle is a kind wee man
Who talks to her politely as often as he can

RIP. Good memories back in the day when I was too young to snigger at his name.
