Planning to go to either of these places in a few weeks time for one day. Have ridden Afan before and normally link it all together for a 70k ride.

What is Brechfa like in conparison?

Specifically – length and style of track? More high speed with jumps or technical and tight?

    Thanks for the input.

Brechfa is roughly the length of Afan, if you exclude all but the last bits of Skyline. Only a guess, but 70km would be twice round Brechfa Red/Black combo.

Brechfa is generally steeper – if Afan had been built as steep as Brechfa it would need resurfacing twice a year. B also has lots of jumps and berms, compared to a bit more variety at Afan.

Brechfa is a bit of everything. Some tighter sections, but mostly faster with bermed corners. Some sections of the Black trail have big berms and jumps, but everything is rollable.

Linking the Red & Black routes gives a good ride and much harder than the distance would suggest, but if you want a really hard ride do the Red & Black twice.

If you start at Bergwm you will have the DropOff bus, starting at Abergorlech there are no facilities (except for an excellent pub) but you do end on the best descent.
