I’m looking into getting a new trail bike but want to avoid bikes with pressfit bottom brackets after bad experiences with them in the past (incurable creaking).

I only know of Santa Cruz and, I think, Whyte who fit the bill. Does anyone know of any other brands out there offering threaded BB trail bikes?

How about getting the bike of your choice and using one of those SRAM Press-fit to BSA adaptors for the BB of your choice?

mikey74, because I see the use of a BB adaptor as a kind of bodge with no guarantee of success – I have used a Praxis adaptor previously and, although an improvement, it did not cure my creaking BB issues completely.

It’s still a frame at the moment but parts are ready to go so it could be built up on Monday if you want a go…

Think my day off is Thursday next week, I’ll give you a call early in the week to see how it’s getting on. That gives me enough time to figure out how to syphon funds from the wedding savings.

Ahh…. hardtail – my Giant Talon has threaded (FSA). Just as well, as it siezed up after 6 months.

I suspect PF was invented to speed up production lines, not for the benefit of riders or home mechanics.
