Im trying to shorten the hose on my new xt brakes but no matter how hard i try i cant get the insert into the hose.

Ive never had a problem before and ive done it a few times before. Is there some trick i can try because its driving me mad.

    cheers

you clamp the hose in those yellow blocks in a vice or some molegrips and push/twist it in, you should get the blocks with the brakes

Would a touch of mineral oil ease it in?

Do like in a Porn film, bit of spit and it goes in the smallest tightest hole apparently!

Yellow clamping blocks, vice, small hammer and tap the insert in. Always works for me!

If you did not get a clean cut the end of the tube may be crushed in and getting in the way. Have a look and see. You can always cut it down just a little to clear it or use something pointy to open it up again if that's the problem.
