Giving our bikes a service before it gets really horrible in the dark months & noticed that a couple of the pads are wearing thin. Question is what do I replace them with, seems to be several different compounds. The brakes are a combination of, Elixirs, Juicy 3, Juicy 5 & Hope Monos (3 kids & a wife) all on Specialized We ride mainly XC trail centres, except for the youngest who does a bit of DH racing (different bike & they are fine).

Always get my pads from Disco Brakes (have had Juicys in the past & run Elixirs currently).

Have gone for the Ceramic Triple Life (Juicys) & am running Kevlar for my Elixirs – performance/life has always been great for these.

Just to play devils advocate here- I’m a big SS fan, but their kevlar / red pads squeal like a female dog in the cold, damp or wet.

So I use their sintered pads from this time of year onwards. Stop. Quietly. Cheaply.

Used in SLX, Oros and Juicys. Kevlars are in the box and kept (for me) for wet summers. YMMV.
