Just asked at the LBS whether they stock olives for brakes. They don’t but they suggested I try a plumbers’ merchants. 😯

Now, I was a bit taken aback, but maybe this is sensible advice – anyone ever bought any olives from such a source?

NB, maybe it’s just Hope brakes, when I confirmed it was for Shimano I was pointed toward Madison.

    CRC, here I come…

No, don’t think plumbers merchants will have olives that small

Sounds like your LBS assistant moonlights at emergency plumbing.

Shimano needs a T-shaped insert as well as the olive.
I know you can re-use these if you can get it out, but the olives are sold with a new one.
I have not tried fitting a Magura olive (does not use a T-piece) on a Shimano hose, but since they use the same size hose, mineral oil and connector nut it does look viable.

I think plumbers merchants will prob only go down to 9mm ish.

I’m sure 5mm are used in compressed air applications though. Maybe a local supplier for compressed air equipment is worth a try?
