I just tried to fit an IS magura julie caliper to an IS fork mount with a 160mm disc – but it didn’t work. Disk only makes contact with around 1/4 of the pad.

What was I doing wrong? Could the fork mount be for 180mm rotors only? If that was the case, can you get IS-IS Front 160mm adaptors?

I’ve tried running a 185mm avid disc too – but it rubs on the caliper body. Because its IS i can’t use the conical bolt kit.

    Any thoughts?

    What fork?

Sounds like you need a 180 rotor?

    As above, sounds like a 180mm set-up

Is the caliper actually post mount with an adapter fitted (like this)?

If it is then you just need a 160 front adapter (not a 160 rear) or use the current adapter with a couple of washers to space it out enough for the 185 rotor… or buy a 180 rotor

    Can you post a pic?

Its an on-one steel fork. Its straight up IS, no adaptor fitted. Think I either need some washers, or a 180mm rotor. Oh well, 160mm would have been nice.. 😐

IIRC mine took an IS mount XTR caliper with no adaptors and a 160mm disc.
It sounds like a rear caliper on the front.

IS to IS no adaptor is needed or used – you get the right size disc for your caliper probably 180. IS calipers can come in different sizes for different discs – hope certainly do so you don’t need an adaptor
