Where’s good to stay (bikes safe), eat and drink close to BPW? Doing a Sat there in June.
Any recommendations would be good as will heads-up on any horrors to avoid.
Anyone stayed at Mount Pleasant Inn at Merthyr Vale? Seems like an option….as is good ol’ Prem Inn (not sure what we’ll do with bikes though).

Prem Inn is cheap and easy – they’ll let you out the bikes in your room – just hose them down at BPW before you leave.

If you want something nicer there are some nice places towards Brecon.

Being a touch of class, my usual is McD’s for breakfast, the Travelodge for sleep and The Dragonfly for dinner – all within about 100′ on the same retail park two roundabouts from BPW! Bike always goes in the room, staff are all fine with it (and it’s often been muddy).

Be worth giving Tony a shout at Castle Lodge Hotel, Tredegar, he’s pretty keen on getting into catering for the BPW market, with secure bike storage etc.

We stayed at the Mount Pleasant a couple of weeks ago. The owners were very friendly and helpful – well used to mountain bikers and BPW: They stored the bikes for us no problem (even offered us the use of the pressure washer), we had a big, comfy room and the food was good. It’s a bit like staying in someone’s house, though, if you’re OK with that.

If we were going again, I’m not sure if we’d stay at the MP or look for a cheap room at the PI (particularly since reading above that they are OK with taking bikes to your room). That said, if you take the cost of breakfast into account (it’s very good at the MP), there’s probably not much difference in price.

(Parking at MP is on the street, but it’s pretty quiet, and there was plenty of space when we went.)

25 mins away just at the bottom of Cwmcarn as well . MTB friendly and has secure storage etc etc

Used the Premier Inn each time we’ve gone. Never had a problem, first time we went it was small but they’ve added extra rooms on as BPW brought so many people in – as said above they are fine with bikes in the rooms.

We stayed at http://www.twintrails.co.uk/ recently. Secure bike storage, room was fine, breakfast was good. On street parking was a bit limited.

Have also stayed at an Airbnb round the corner with secure bike storgae etc but I can’t find the name of it right now.

We stayed in a house in merthyr the last time we stayed over.

Was a about £25 a head for 6 of us.

Usually Premier Inn for us, cheap, convenient, decent breakfast – just a bit of a trek into town. As said, no problem at all with bikes, they must have several people every single day wheeling bikes into their rooms.

Ate at Woodfired Pizza & Kitchen last time and it was very good, they also have rooms and secure bike storage. Would be a good option if you want to stay in town. Also like Moksh for curry further up the High St.

You could try The Grange. Bike friendly, reasonably priced and a cellar full of craft beer…
