Anyone hired bikes from anywhere in Bourg D’Osians? Is it easy to find any MTB’ing or are guides needed?

Off their on a roadie holiday, but tempted to have day or two MTB’ing as well.

There’s definitely one shop that hires mtb’s, probably 2, maybe more.
They are in the pedestrianised street. One at the top, one at the bottom.

You could hire a guide, or you could do it yourself. Depends a lot on what you’re after really.

Have fun. Bourg always feels like roadie mecca.

No need to hire a guide if just riding a day or two. The marked enduro tracks are v good. One is the mega track.

Dont miss en4 and en6 if you like switchbacks.

Was in Alpe D’Huez last week. There were loads of places hiring bikes plus body armour, helmets etc.

Basically everything you need if you just turn up with nothing.

Seems to be modelled on the ski hire philosophy.

I hired one last week on the last day of a roadie-ing holiday. It was from ski-set who seem to have outlets in a few of the ski centres near AdH / BdO. I think it was €35 for half day or €55 for a full day including full face helmet and body armour. The bike was a Rose Beef Cake. There is a “VTT map” with all the waymarked trails that you can pick up from tourist information, and it’s easy enough to find your way – apart from the top end of megavalanche it seems as well signposted as trail centres in the UK.

The map is downloadable from [/url] see 2nd page of the pdf.

Allow a bit for the lift passes in your budget as well.
