Have been drinking Scotch/Irish for a decade now, and know my way around whisky. Am thinking of dipping into the above but have only ever had a couple of JD’s with coke.
Looking for recommendations, but as a novice don’t want to pay silly money, and preferably something easily obtained in the UK.

I would go for Jim Beam rather than JD. And no coke!

OK, so I know that this is massively off piste here, but if ever you see any Pappy van Winkle, sell a kidney, rob a bank, whatever, just be sure to try it!

Makers Mark or Woodford Reserve are 2 of my favourites , we’re about halfway through a bottle of Jack Daniels silver select single barrel that’s quite nice too.

Aldi’s bourbon is good, cheap as chips and lovely for sipping neat.

JD is nice on its own and buffalo trace a buillit or however you spell it.

IME there’s less of an extreme variance with bourbon than scotch so almost all bourbon is good, where as some scotch makes me gag.

Makers Mark is the correct answer.

    Makers Mark
Woodford Reserve when ASDA have it on special offer
Buffalo Trace is good when you don’t want to stretch to Makers Mark

M&s sell Elijah Craig in some of their stores for 26 quid about the best bourbon for the price you can get. If you want better try basil Hayden or four roses single barrel or special reserve.

I was always a Jim beam fan but only drink the stuff when in a pub / party setting where sadly JD seems more readily available then JB.

Mixed with coke, it was my big session drink as I seemed to be able to drink massive quantities of the stuff without getting out of hand and remained relatively well behaved. I also never suffered from a hang over on it, no matter how much I had.
