right ive got 2 to buy and not masses of cash so about 40 each max to spend, im looking at either the race face diabolus x-type bb or shimano xt

any thoughts on the two or any better for the money/less money

the bearings are fine mate its the cups that are **** thanks to the threads on my new frame ;-(

my current other one is an fsa which was really poo indeed (i may use the bearings from the ruined cups and put those in the fsa one ) mmm brain ticks lol

sss – I didn’t think they were as good as that!
Am I right in thinking the shimano HT2 BB’s all use the same bearings so you may as well buy their cheapest & some SKF spare bearings.

The RF cups are good but the bearings are shite to the power of w4nk.

ok what size bearings are ppl fitting? and is it bigger enough that you no longer need the top hat?

was going to go some more phil woods fitted but they gone up to £47, ouch.

will an older m970 xtr one fit found one a bit cheaper than new xt ?

My RF BB lasted 2 weeks!

My raceface bb is still fine after 2 1/2 years, have been through 6 shimanos and 4 superstar in that time on other bikes.

I put cheap bearings from ebay in superstar cups now, and try not to over tighten things any more

The grease tool works a treat.

Don’t suppose you know if the king BB tool fits Hope BB bearings do you?

Looking at the King bearing and the way it’s seated in the housing with a sheild on the inside I doudt that it’d work with the Hope bearing.

The grease tool kind of butts up against the inner sheild and deflects the grease back in through the bearing pushing the shite out and replacing it with fresh grease.
