    Folks.

I’m looking for a new (second hand) chainset for my Cube Team Ltd MTB. It’s Shimano equipped with a Hollowtech bottom bracket.

Do I have to specifically buy a chainset with a Hollowtech fitting or can I contemplate something different i.e. Mega Exo Pro or GXP ?

    Thanks.

Shimano HT2 chainsets have a 24mm axle, if you intend to keep the same BB then you will need something shimano compatible with a 24mm axle. Is your BB threaded or press fit.? If you go for a different make of chainset you will most probably have to change the BB. Off the top of my head I think GPX was 24mm.

GXP isn’t directly compatible with an HT2 BB, despite having the same axle diameter. It’ll need an adapter. I’m not sure if the adapters are generic. I’m running got a hope HT2 BB with the Hope GXP adapters for my SRAM GXP chainset.
