I’m thinking of getting a Saris Bones for the hatchback (a Seat Mii) it has a nice lip on the boot for the feet to take the weight it seems. I’m not too bothered about scratching because helitape exists. I am worried however that the diddy little boot lid on my car wasn’t really designed to have around 60lbs of bikes hanging off it nor was the bumper designed to have a some of that weight on it. I’ll be using this once a week for a 30 mile round trip and maybe once a month for a longer drive. Other than scratches, in peoples experience do these racks damage the car over time? All the tests I’ve seen are, yes it fits, look how easy, let’s go riding type stuff and not my boot lid fell off or the metal bent where the hooks go after 6 months.

Any advice would be welcome.
